Citrus based desserts have a special place in my family. I'd been wanting to try orange cookies for a really long time, and I finally made time to bake some early this year.
They burst with the aromatic flavor of orange, and are chewy and soft inside. Also, incredibly easy to make a quick batch in no time at all!
Enjoy as is or with a cup of tea!

Ingredients (30 cookies):
- 1 1/4 sticks of unsalted butter, softened at room temperature
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2.5 tablespoons finely grated orange zest
- 1 tablespoon yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon orange extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour / maida
- 1.5 tablespoons orange juice
- Cream butter until soft and creamy. Add brown sugar and cream together until fluffy.
- Throw in orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract and orange extract, and beat to incorporate.
- Beat in yogurt
- Add all-purpose flour (1 cup at a time) and gently beat until flour is just mixed. Do not over beat
- Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease two cookie sheets. Roll out 1 inch balls of the dough and line them on the sheet, about 2 inches apart. Bake for 12-13 minutes until the bottom is browned.
- Remove and cool on the tray for 5 minutes. Then transfer to a cooling and rack and cool completely.
Enjoy as is or with a cup of tea!
